There are two options when uploading a bulksheet via the Upload Center in DoubleClick Search: DART Search and Engine and DART Search Only. However, it can sometimes be confusing to determine which option to use. Here are some guidelines to help you decide.
DART Search and Engine:
The DART Search and Engine option means that the objects will be created/updated in DoubleClick Search, and then go through the API to the engine. You will use this action most of the time. Some common reasons to use this action include:
- You're trafficking a new account that doesn't yet exist on the engine, and you want to create the object in DoubleClick Search and push it to the engine simultaneously.
- You're adding/updating objects to your account, such as creating new groups or keywords, or editing the text of your ads (assuming you're not using double-byte characters).
DART Search Only:
The DART Search Only option means that the objects will only be created/updated in DoubleClick Search and will NOT go through the API to the search engine. Some common reasons to use this action include:
- You're changing landing pages. It's not necessary for landing page changes to go out to the engine because the landing pages are hosted in DoubleClick Search. The clickserve link on the engine will always redirect to the landing page specified in DoubleClick Search. Therefore, changes to the landing page only need to be made in DoubleClick Search.
- You're trafficking a new object into DoubleClick Search, but the object already exists on the search engine. If you already have objects on the engine, you don't want them going through DoubleClick Search to the engine. However, if you'd like to mirror your account in DoubleClick Search, you would submit your upload files as DART Search Only (but remember: don't forget to swap out the clickserve links that are generated in DoubleClick Search for the ads/keywords on the engine).
