Minimize editorial delays: Add an Exception Request.

This post is part of a series of tips and tricks on using DoubleClick Search more effectively. Stay tuned to this blog for more suggestions on using DoubleClick Search in the future!

To lessen the risk of trafficking delays because of editorial issues, make sure to add an exception request for any keyword or ad that might be rejected because of:
  • Repeated and unnecessary punctuation or symbols.
  • Excessive capitalization.
  • Non-standard copyright usage.
  • Inappropriate language.
  • Pharmaceutical terms.

Example of a legitimate keyword that might be rejected:
You company’s name includes the text ‘Pharma’. However, if one of your keywords contains ‘pharma’, there’s a good chance it will get flagged by AdWords as a pharmaceutical term.

Adding exception requests to objects featuring any of the content described above will help minimize delays in getting them pushed through to the engine. When you add exception requests to objects, they are sent directly to the Google editorial team, who will then approve or reject your ads or keywords based on the explanation you provided in your exception request.

You can add an exception request through the UI or on an upload sheet. For upload sheets, be sure to add your exception request in the proper column:
  • Use the Ad Exception Request column if you’re trafficking ads.
  • Use the Keyword Exception Request column if you’re trafficking keywords.

Happy trafficking!
