The DoubleClick Search support team is dedicated to resolving issues related to DoubleClick Search and providing resources for you to better troubleshoot problems. To that end, we'll use the DoubleClick Search blog to help clarify some of the issues that are most confusing to you.
One point of confusion that has come up is the difference between syncs and pushing failed tasks to the engine. A sync (also called a manual sync) does two things:
- Maps or connects campaigns, groups, ads, and keywords together. This mapping connects the DoubleClick Search ID and Engine ID for a given object.
- Pulls the engine status of these objects in DoubleClick Search. A sync does not push anything onto the engine.
To push failed tasks to the engine, you'll want to resubmit or recycle failed engine tasks through the Upload Center. Perform the following:
- Select the advertiser/publisher relationship and go to the Upload Center.
- The Upload History section shows the amount of engine failures for each upload. Click a link on the Engine # Failures column in this section to access the Search Engine Tasks page.
- On the Search Engine Tasks page, select the check boxes next to the tasks you want to resend to the search engine and click Resubmit Checked Tasks.

- To check on your tasks, go back to the Upload Center:
- If the Engine # Failures column now shows a value of 0 for the upload, the tasks were successfully pushed to the engine.
- If the number is greater than 0, there were still errors with some of the tasks so they didn’t get pushed to the engine.
We hope this article assists you in diagnosing whether your account needs a sync or whether you need to have your tasks resubmitted!
